Hello, and thank you for visiting my web site.  My name is Christine J. Laird and I live in the Finger Lakes region of New York State with my family.

I guess you can say I have "unofficially" been an artist since attending high school in upstate New York.  The handful of art classes I took there inspired me to study Graphic Design at the Rochester Institute of Technology in western New York.  During my four years at college my summers were spent as a screen printer.  After I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, my husband's plans for graduate school led us to central Illinois.

Once we were settled, my "career" as a t-shirt designer began.  Within a couple of years I was working full time at B&A Screen Printing in Monticello, Illinois.  During my tenure there I expanded my knowledge of screen printing, increased my experience with computers and learned the importance of open communication between myself, customers, and coworkers.  I also developed a great number of friendships that I will cherish for years to come.

In 1994, with the intention of ultimately creating a t-shirt, I started a full color pencil drawing of one of our dogs.  Once it was done, my plans for the drawing changed.  I immediately started a second drawing of our other dog and then had both portraits framed.  Those led to various drawings of friends, family and their pets.  Then I started doing portraits on commission.  Currently, I work almost entirely on White, Black and Ivory photo mount board.  The pencils I use are: Prismacolor®, Prismacolor Verithin® and Derwent Studio®.
